A New Year

This article reviews the current year and loks ahead to the one to come. So how was 2018 and what is to come in the new year?

LIFE IN LIMA

We had a decent time here in Lima, with a few ups and downs of course but we have seen many developments in our Liam so we are happy about that. The year was filled with the usual things, birthdays, days out, going out for food of course and trips to the park etc. He started school (it’s really a playgroup) and how he can talk and feed himself. All good.

Next year we hope for more of the same

STRABANE AND SANTANDER

We travelled to Ireland in May and spent a few days in Santander as well.

May in Ireland was quite warm so we spent lots of time outside, we made frequent visits to Cafe Scoop. It was great to see family and friends and celebrate Dad’s 65th birthday.

Santander was excellent too and it was geat to see friends from there. The weather was reasonably good there and this city has some excellent beaches.

BREXIT

One thing that dominated the political landscape in 2018 was Brexit so what will happen on 29th March 2019?? I personally hope May gets her Withdrawal Agreement through the House of Commons because a Hard Brexit and a hard border in Ireland should be avoided at all costs.

LIVERPOOL, TYRONE AND IRELAND

Will Liverpool will the league? I hope so but let’s see. There is a long way to go. History has taught me not to get carried away as I remember the disappointment I felt when we lost to Chelsea in 2014 and with it the league so the old saying take each game as it comes rings true.

Will Tyrone win Sam? I don’t know but I would be happy if any team other than Dublin . won the All- Ireland in 2019. Maybe this could be Mayo’s year or maybe Monaghan’s? Let’s see.

Will Ireland win the Rugby World Cup? We lost to Wales in 2011 and Argentina in 2015 in Quarter Finals when we were expected to win so again let’s not get too carried away.
